Welcome to The Chapel & Claw Chandlery — a gothic candle studio where scent and story intertwine. Nestled in a quiet town in Britain, each candle is conjured by hand in our converted chapel workspace.

Founded by Gabriella, Chapel & Claw was born out of a desire to create something intimate, immersive, and a little bit uncanny. After nearly a decade spent as a strategist in the advertising world, Gabi turned her storytelling skills inward and embraced her love for sketching weird and wonderful things. What began as a quiet candle-making hobby quickly transformed into a deeper, more creative pursuit: a way to merge her love of folklore, scent alchemy, and gothic aesthetics into something truly spellbinding.

Gabriella is a self-taught artist and writer with previous teaching experience. Her preferred medium are pencils and inks for their sharp linework and contrast that gives the candles an edgy, storybook illustration feel. Since starting her small business, she has been developing new skills like photography and video editing.

As a proudly neurodivergent founder, Gabriella has always believed in the power of difference. In 2019, she launched ReWired — the first ERG network for neurodiversity, chronic illness, and disability within Ogilvy — and has long championed the diversity of thought as the beating heart of creativity. Now, with Chapel & Claw, that ethos lives on: in every unconventional blend, in every golden label, in every lovingly packed box.

Each candle is hand-poured with care, using custom scent blends designed to evoke vivid moods and imagined worlds such as haunted orchards, forgotten crypts, and memory-laced winds. The labels feature original hand-drawn artwork by Gabriella herself, designed to feel just as at home on your walls as on your shelves. All our scents are genderless and layered, crafted with storytelling in mind and darkness at heart.

All candles are vegan, cruelty-free, and made with natural soy wax. We package sustainably and always include a candle-care guide and a complimentary herbal tea sachet in every box as a small ritual to ground your space.
